Story of An Insomniac.

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “To Sleep, Perchance to Dream.”

One threaded in moss dreams
Dangling from a teardrop
Let the words drip like dew
Healing and soothing the cracks
Within my stone heart

The tales told from the soul
Tilts on the eyelash
A blink away
Those tales fall inside the iris galaxy
Where sleep becomes a lullaby

For the restless.

Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort’15 – The Highlights.

A platform where more than 80 top designers unveil their collection, each giving a new face to the trend and season; with diversified and avant-garde silhouettes and highlighting details, we bring LAKME FASHION WEEK SUMMER/RESORT 2015.

However, LFW’15 was all about energetic tones, buoyant impressions of art and heavy luxury all together giving birth to new fashion statements yet again. The week has ended, but these remarkable collections have made their mark right from the fashion extremists on the front row to the fashion followers sitting before their gadgets swooned by the runway.

Here are my favorite jaw-dropping collections from LFW’15.

LFW 154

Manish Malhotra, a respected asset to the fashion and Bollywood industry commences the season with a grand opening, celebrating 25 years of success and glory on the dais.

The Blue Runway by Manish featured flourishing threadwork and parsi-gara embroidery. The soft and flowy fabrics were rendered in the hues of blue with bold motifs of GOLD. Whereas, the mens’ collection showcased affluent and contented attire ruling the runway with self-embroidered jackets and long shirts.

The high-end designer set apart his collection by welcoming a new dimension to it with a social media message of gender equality. Always doing the right thing Manish!

 LFW 15

Shubhika’s collection for Papa Don’t Preach was titled as Twitterpated, inspired by the idea of love with romantic pop of pastels stitched with lively embellished heart motifs. The collection redefined sexy and chic showcasing straightforward silhouettes with rich crepe, silk tissue, mesh and satin. Am I the only one going cray-cray over those quirky props and accessories? I guess not. That frolic umbrella and those pom-pom earrings ruled the ramp.

LFW 151

Fashion designer Dhruv successfully blurs the gender lines with modified formals, eccentric designs and with hot little off-the-shoulder number on LFW ramp. Though Androgyny is one of the running trends this year, DRVV debuts the trend on Indian Platform successfully with his edgy monochrome creation.

LFW 152

Jayesh Sachdev and Rixi Bhatia are turning everyones quirk on; cajoling the crowd with their signature sparkling prints to go wanderlust this summer. The collection dominates this season with airplane printed on the jacket, domes from Moscow on the back and postcards on pants completing the look with travel friendly accessories. This summer, quirk away.

LFW 153

Anamika Khanna, who rules the Indian couture world closed the Lakme Fashion Week 2015 with beyond-graceful silhouettes portraying a mélange of designs with richly embroidered capes, soft sultry fabrics and gorgeous headgears, which redefines a modern bride.

Lakme ambassador Kareena Kapoor Khan masterfully rendered in Anamika Khanna couture closes the season with a majestic bang!

Well, these are my favorites from the LFW’15. But there’s more! These designers may have imprinted us with their lush and gorgeous apparel but there were designers who took the historic way and made us all re-live the art of the different eras. Stay tuned. x

Blogger Note- Hi all. I’m sorry for disappearing from this sphere, but I’m actually not sorry?! I’ve been facing a writers-block lately because I’m working on my CV, as summer is here and I am looking for a job. Priority shifts you see.  I seriously don’t want to lose focus on both- here and in my life. Sometimes it gets really hard, but I’m sure it’ll be okay in the end.

Hope you have a great day.

A Moment.

Looking down to a porch where the Bluebells grow
Next to them the wild garlic will show
An old dusted swing creeks with a century of age
With brand new shoots and the sun they crave
A crystal clear thought to sublime and make my nest
Flows in my conscious what Sir Milton thought of the rest
The gentle swooping wind swifts down like dive bombing planes
In a field of pure sunset like country lanes
In the distance a Wood Pigeon coos
And the rest of the birds also voice their views
Beneath this sunset filled velvet persian sky
Hear the distinctive sound of a Pheasant cry
As dusk sets in with moon rising higher
far away glows a farmers pyre
Soon to come the majestic Bat
Skillfully collecting Moth and Gnat
Stood up to the wind debating on directions
A moment screaming perfect kind to non-fiction
Twelve hundred seconds of the life spent
And I shall call this My Moment.

Blogger Note: I am on a weekend get-away at a hill station where my brother studies in a boarding school. Today I found myself sitting here at an old swing, reading Paradise Lost by JOHN MILTON. Maybe that’s why I was inspired to express my Moment in a form of poem.
It was simply magical. 🙂
Have a lovely weekend ❤

Deuce’s Rainbow.

As the sun goes down on my spirit
The darkened sky rises black above it
Clouds of infinite destinies begin to cry
Not knowing of any reason why.

Under pressure, the clouds grow thick
Slowly time passes, yet the rain has yet to drip
The sky grew from black to grey
Choking any thoughts of yesterday.

The past lives despite attempting to be free
The future tries to grow like a deforested tree
The rain starts to fall like little dark beads
Strung into necklaces, drowning un-nurtured seeds.

Black rain streaked through the sky
Like it had nothing better to do, or try
Trapped in the present between hello and goodbye
It fell without trying, remorseful with nowhere to lie.

It rained down black upon the ocean’s grim face
And spread its black upon the open sea in disgrace
The black moon knows the end is inside
And behind the dark shadows it did hide.

Dark Clouds hang the black rainbow in frame
No one knows, sightless of the beauty, hidden in shame
The rain is thick like bloodletting from above
A strange sign of black coloured lover’s love.

Then as it left, leaving sounds bereft, it whispered in my ear
“Black rain will fall again, whenever you are near”
I wanted to know black rain’s truth, yet it remained a mystery
That black pain it put forth, in the way the answers alluded me.

Just having one of those days!

Melange Of Musings- Upgraded and Rendered

Been a while, eh? My exams are going great so far and hence I decided to treat myself by giving a new face and direction to my blog. I have done few minor/major changes including the title of my blog, the theme, adding a new page on ‘Fashion’ (which will be up in couple of hours), re-arranging my widgets and still fixing!

Now, Why did I do this?

I did it because I had penned down few ideas on how to expand and improvise the nature of my blog since a year; and now that I am often found blogging, I don’t want to miss this chance of experimenting and clearing my own thoughts which would help me think rationally.

What do I mean by expanding and improvising the blog?

I generally write about philosophical way of life or things based on reality. Since I am pursuing in the field of Fashion, I want to learn and explore more about my field and be able to write on it with confidence. Therefore, it is not only improvising the blog, it is actually improvising myself each time I make an attempt. Of-course, I know my field but I want to enhance my knowledge in fashion journalism, choose that path 🙂

Why did I renamed as “Melange of Musings” ? What does it mean?

Well, this name was suggested to me by my friend and I loved it instantly. My Lost Lexicon was a great name but the general non-blogger readers use to fail to understand/ interpret the content of the blog in the first attempt. It was debatable but since I wanted to shift the focus of my blog and make it look rationale between Life and Fashion related post , I thought a change would be okay.

Melange of Musings: “Melange” means mixture and “Musings” is well known as thinking, pondering or brooding.  Clubbed together as, A mixture of thoughts.  I think it is legit and in someway I feel it reflects me as I think a lot and speak too less. Equivalently, this blog renders mixtures of thoughts, emotions and good will.

About the tag-line.

All about Good times, Great books and Peerless fashion.

It is simple. It is effective and It is quintessential.

That’s all I’ve been up to since last two days and I think I love the way it looks! Do have a look and let me know if you have any suggestions.

I feel so glad.

The Sisterhood of The World Bloggers Award Nomination

Wait. WHATT?!!

I’ve been nominated for “The Sisterhood of The World Bloggers Award”!! I was so happy that I was screaming inside(which is very weird and normal in my case). It’s like the more crazy I was feeling inside the proud and boastful I felt from the outside, I think its called happiness.

This is unexpected for I’ve been MIA since a week now because I’ve been travelling lately and I have a bag full of memories which I cannot wait to share. I want to begin by thanking all for their patience and sticking up to my blog. A massive thanks to Jestimous, who nominated me for this award. She’s married but as soon as I read about her I was knocked to six! She’s a netflix fan! She’s jovial and prudent and apt!

I’ve seen many bloggers participating and being nominated for various such awards with pride and now I wouldn’t miss this opportunity. Since I am already late, I should begin…

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site.
  2. Put the Award logo on your blog.
  3. Answer the ten questions sent to you.
  4. Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer.
  5. Nominate seven blogs.

Number 1- Done and done!

Number 2- Scroll above to view the logo

Number 3,

 What inspires you to write?

I love this question because my blog revolves around it and hence it has been tagged as                        “Inspiration exists”  The fact that inspiration is immortal alone makes me want to explore more                and write more.

If you could describe yourself with a song, which song would you choose? If you can’t               think of a song that describes you, pick one that moves your souls

“Dare you to move” by Switchfoot. This song gives me shivers and definitely moves my souls. There’s a beautiful bridge in this song  saying, “Maybe redemption has stories to tell, Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell”      Beautiful, isn’t it?

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?

I love making “Pen friends”. So sometimes I hunt for random address and write a letter to that person. Its weird and creepy but it’s so pure and traditional.

Why did you decide to start a blog?

I always knew about blogging but never thought that it would be such a huge platform and so much more. The more I write, the better I understand my state of being.

Who is your favorite fictional character?

SHERLOCK HOLMES <3. Sherlock Holmes is a deductive genius, using his analytic mind for the good. His druggie life is both gloriously detached and also more deeply engaged with the crime-ridden, class-divided, evil world of late-Victorian London

Who is the biggest inspiration in your life, or who inspires you the most?

I find inspiration in the everyday.  I am fascinated by relationships of all types–happy ones, complicated ones, unusual ones.  Through writing, I often attempt to dissect the meaning behind something that has happened or to describe a particular feeling or emotion.

I enjoy the challenge of communicating what we each experience in our everyday lives, bringing those unique moments to life through words and sentences. And what is really wonderful about writing is that I can pass on that inspiration; if I can clearly communicate some aspect of life, if I can inform or entertain the people who read my writing, I may also have the opportunity to inspire them as well.

What are your aspirations for the next 5 years of your life?

I aspire to become an editor of a high-end fashion  magazine or maybe publish my own magazine and to buy lots of clothes and droll over them.

What advice would you give to other writers, or others interested in starting a blog?

The saying “Practice makes a man perfect” is legit and apt. I would just ask all of the bloggers to see what you believe and write and write and write.

What is the most meaningful gift you’ve ever received?

I just turned 20 and my parents gave me and necklace made of real moonstones and its beautiful to no end! Moonstone opens the mind to hoping and wishing, inspiration and impulse, serendipity and synchronicity.

What is something that is guaranteed to make you laugh?

Musical Farts.

  1.  What made you start your own blog?
  2. What is the most favorite thing about your blog?
  3. What do you think would be the hardest thing for you to give up on?
  4. If you are given a choice to pick any job in the world, what would it be?
  5. Which is that one book which you would want to re-write or write?
  6. What is your favorite Movie quote?
  7. Who is your shrink and why?
  8. So any secret talent?
  9. What is the cleverest word you know?
  10. What is the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?

Below is the list of my five new and currently favorite bloggers because it is really intriguing to see life and living through their eyes, also the ‘why’ behind their every beautiful thought instantly made me hit the follow button. It is worth a visit people!

The Darkest Raven- Collection

The Darkest Raven- Collection  – A fantastic blog based on unparalleled collection of poems, emotive quotes and serene visual arts. Her words defines power and her picture, a beautiful story. She writes:

Poetry is like a wine to me

I took a sip and wanted more

I write until I’m drunk with my own words

Then share them when I become sober

BLOG: ELIZABETHNASHWRITES – I came across this blog while exploring under the topic “POP CULTURE” along with fashion. I love how she brought up the subject of Celebrity Culture and putting forward a strong question to the readers:

A detriment or a boon to the fashion industry?

BLOG: WRITTENINRUBIES – This blog is more of a Mixed-media types. Business, fitness, poetry and life. Each post is differentiated by others but talks about one thing in common: LIVING! .  I came across this blog while looking for the title “DARK HUMOR” .

BLOG: DON’T GET WASTED – I found this blog amusing and fun. I am normally not a fan of short stories but the author of this blog (Vicky!) is rather honest to the core and the humor in his words is what attracted me.

BLOG: LITTLE MINX – I can  sum up the introduction of this blog by one line – “Her pictures are as powerful as her words” . A very enthusiastic and high-spirited blogger. A fun package 😀
