Not That Kind Of Girl by Lena Dunham – 12 Favorite Quotes.

Lena Dunham’s, “Not That Kind Of a Girl” is one of the most honest and felicitous read yet. Dunham’s memoir is divided into five parts – Food, Body, Work, Love & Sex and The Big Picture – a mixed bag of emotions with essays and lists ranging from uproarious to acute. Dunham’s writing is bewitching and profane at the same time which makes its aboriginal and one of its kind.

Where once wretched memoirs were in vogue in the publishing world, now it is books by young women writing about usually described as “all their flaws” which means everything that happens from sex to fame in life, which is why I enjoyed each and every expression and contemplation she shared.

Talking about thoughts, I have extracted 12 of my favorite quotes from Dunham’s book which are unreservedly awe-inspiring.

So here are the 12 quotes which really knocked me to six:

“There is nothing gutsier to me than a person announcing that their story is one that deserves to be told, especially if that person is a woman.”

“Look over at the person beside you. Do they meet these criteria? If not, remove them, or remove yourself. You’re better off alone.”

“The end never comes when you think it will. It’s always ten steps past the worst moment, then a weird turn to the left.”

“When someone shows you how little you mean to them and you keep coming back formore, before you know it you start to mean less to yourself.”

“There is so much I’ve shared, and so much that’s been crushed by the sharing. I never mourned it, because it never mattered.”

“Besides being gross, these images of sex can also be destructive. Between porn and studio romantic comedies, we get the message loud and clear that we are doing it all wrong.”

“It’s not brave to do something that doesn’t scare you. Performing in sex scenes that I direct, exposing a flash of my weird puffy nipple, those things don’t fall into my zone of terror.”

“I’m not jealous in traditional ways – of boyfriends absorbing bank accounts – but I do covet other women’s styles of being.”

“I consider being female such a unique gift, such a sacred joy, in ways that run so deep I can’t articulate them. It’s a special kind of privilege to be born into the body you wanted, to embrace the essence of your gender even as you recognize what you are up against. Even as you seek to redefine it.”

“Ambition is a funny thing: it creeps in when you least expect it and keeps you moving, even when you think you want to stay put.”

“I decided then that I will never be jealous. I will never be vengeful. I won’t be threatened by the old, or by the new. I’ll open wide like a daisy every morning. I will make my work.”

You’ve learned a new rule and it’s simple: don’t put yourself in situations you’d like to run away from.”

Have a lovely weekend you all ❤

A Moment.

Looking down to a porch where the Bluebells grow
Next to them the wild garlic will show
An old dusted swing creeks with a century of age
With brand new shoots and the sun they crave
A crystal clear thought to sublime and make my nest
Flows in my conscious what Sir Milton thought of the rest
The gentle swooping wind swifts down like dive bombing planes
In a field of pure sunset like country lanes
In the distance a Wood Pigeon coos
And the rest of the birds also voice their views
Beneath this sunset filled velvet persian sky
Hear the distinctive sound of a Pheasant cry
As dusk sets in with moon rising higher
far away glows a farmers pyre
Soon to come the majestic Bat
Skillfully collecting Moth and Gnat
Stood up to the wind debating on directions
A moment screaming perfect kind to non-fiction
Twelve hundred seconds of the life spent
And I shall call this My Moment.

Blogger Note: I am on a weekend get-away at a hill station where my brother studies in a boarding school. Today I found myself sitting here at an old swing, reading Paradise Lost by JOHN MILTON. Maybe that’s why I was inspired to express my Moment in a form of poem.
It was simply magical. 🙂
Have a lovely weekend ❤

NYFW – Victoria Beckham blends Military and Apron style stitched with Sexy!

Having successfully infiltrated the fashion world, Victoria Beckham now occupies a very diverse position within the New York Fashion web of power and influence than she did in the days when she was marketing her own glamorous lifestyle in the form of figure-flattering date dresses.

Victoria Beckham is proving to be a dab hand at navigating the void between, taking silhouettes and styles that are just beginning to come into fashion industry focus and distilling them into slick, glossy collections that make new ideas appealing and palatable. (Of course, having David Beckham in the front row doesn’t hurt.)

Her latest collection, for spring/summer 2015, began with a series of three taupe linen dresses and coat-dresses, each falling to just below the knee, each with a wrapover or double breasted fastening, each worn with a half-belt, which narrowed the silhouette while keeping the line soft and fluid.

The midi skirt, the double-breasted jacket or coat, the lean-but-loose silhouette are all looks which were floating around the fashion zeitgeist before but which Beckham has – with this collection, and elements of the one before – taken and made her own. Hemlines stayed below the knee for 26 out of the 32 outfits in this collection, a confident statement of belief in the trend from a woman whose toned legs, in short dresses, once formed a key part of her personal brand.

The show was the first for which Beckham had designed shoes under her own brand. There was not a stiletto to be seen: instead, she embraced the voguish trend for a profound, less feminine shoe. Heels were colossal platforms, and most of the shoes were smooth. A floral-embellished, pointy loafer-brogue amalgam was the standout.

To sum up, apron-styling, square patch pockets and soft military detailing lent a work-wear edge to the trademark genteel Beckham aesthetic.

“I wanted something minimal and graphic with a slightly raw element. Over the seasons I’ve loosened up the fit of my clothes – but they still make you look long and lean, they’re still wearable.” – Victoria.B

Hi! I’ve been too much into poems lately. I draft it and then trash it away (Oh! the irony!! ). Well, today I’m posting a poem I wrote on this day back in High School related to, obviously “Love”. When I re-read it today, I was like “Yuck! This doesn’t even make sense!” but  my friend Pray (who hates his name because it’s a verb) told me, “If it didn’t make sense to you.. you wouldn’t have written it” and I knew somewhere that though it’s stupid, I loved it anyway. I was so vulnerable back then, but when I see how far I have come from the last bench, corner row I think I am the most vulnerable now in the present than I was back then. Love is weird, and this poem is even more weirder.

If love is full of ups and downs, then why does it go side-by-side?

If a man has got his basic needs, then why is it incomplete without love?

If love entails understanding, then why it devises misunderstanding?

If love is never-ending, then why does it has voids in between?

If love is splashing affection, then why is hatred is so de-hydrating?

If love is so sensitive, then why do we feel numb?

If love is real and true, then why are people so fake and false?

If love is like a game for some, then why do people live by the same rules?

If love is blind, then why can’t people cure it?

If love is about changing ones life, they why do people end up changing the definition of love instead?

If all these questions are too easy to answer, then how about this one…

*hides under the blankie*

Have a great day!

Deuce’s Rainbow.

As the sun goes down on my spirit
The darkened sky rises black above it
Clouds of infinite destinies begin to cry
Not knowing of any reason why.

Under pressure, the clouds grow thick
Slowly time passes, yet the rain has yet to drip
The sky grew from black to grey
Choking any thoughts of yesterday.

The past lives despite attempting to be free
The future tries to grow like a deforested tree
The rain starts to fall like little dark beads
Strung into necklaces, drowning un-nurtured seeds.

Black rain streaked through the sky
Like it had nothing better to do, or try
Trapped in the present between hello and goodbye
It fell without trying, remorseful with nowhere to lie.

It rained down black upon the ocean’s grim face
And spread its black upon the open sea in disgrace
The black moon knows the end is inside
And behind the dark shadows it did hide.

Dark Clouds hang the black rainbow in frame
No one knows, sightless of the beauty, hidden in shame
The rain is thick like bloodletting from above
A strange sign of black coloured lover’s love.

Then as it left, leaving sounds bereft, it whispered in my ear
“Black rain will fall again, whenever you are near”
I wanted to know black rain’s truth, yet it remained a mystery
That black pain it put forth, in the way the answers alluded me.

Just having one of those days!

Valentine Plans – Style Diary!

Its the Valentines week!

Honestly the word “Love” and everything around and beyond it, is the biggest cliche in life. But I tend to enjoy the little things, (which just includes a gory stare and a deep *sigh* from my side)- I like the pretty little lightnings hung around the trees and the passage of the romantic dinner venues; and the fresh flowers on the early afternoons dinning table. And basically I admire all these universal things which reminds me of the universal ‘feelings’. It’s a day where every girl tries to look her best beautiful and the boys try to make their loved one realize the worth of her love. Their love.

Hence, I have created 4 different exciting looks for The Valentines Day for all you beautiful ladies because life is too short to wear boring clothes.

  • The Casual
  • The Rationale
  • The Classic
  • The Usual

The Casual.

The casual look is basically for the brunch/lunch dates. A little bit of sunshine, the soft morning breeze and an attire stitched with comfort. Isn’t it a perfect way to start a day? Here I chose a simple cotton slip-on dress and teamed up with contrasting accessories and footwear and couple of chunky bangles, easy blow-dried hair and I’m good to go.

The Rationale

If you are planning to hit the clubs with crazy music, great booze and scrumptious food, here’s an edgy look with a leather corset  for an outstanding evening combined with a statement shoulder accessory, a neat hair-do in contrast with heavy make-up. Let your eyes do the talking!

The Classic.

A glass of wine, a roof-top dinner, and some jazz. Is that in your planner? Rock the night with an elegant gown with sexy cuts in chiffon. If the neck is too busy or ends too high, pair it up with your best statement earrings and cuff. Complete the look with a side bun with smokey eyes and red or nude lipstick if you are not a lipstick fan like me.

The Usual,

Made with Square InstaPic (

Do I even need to talk about this? Go cray-cray with your girlfriends! Come up the a theme or nothing at all. Wear your dads t-shirt and your favorite pajamas like a stud and roam around the streets like retards. Eating pizzas with swag because we own you nothing.

Hands down, I’m going for the last option. What about you?

Please do share your Valentine plans, if nothing, then join the club!

Hope you liked the post. I was very skeptical about it because I was a little nervous. But it became better anyway 🙂

Fashion Fables- A new page.

Fashion has become a large part of identity making in the post-human world in which people play dress-up with their clothing. Fashionable clothes reinvent people as sexual, desirable and enigmatic. We care about what we wear a great deal because our culture emphasizes an outward appearance.

Fashion changes every season, squeezing our wallets. Being a fashion graduating student, I would say it is not about what to wear. It is about how you wear the attire, reflecting back to yourself. Fashion is persistent. This page is all about  couture things,road-side pleasures and impromptu detailing existing currently in the Fashion market.

Fashion Fables features  latest trends, fashion reviews, cover stories, accessories, color stories, fashion blogs, road-side shopping list and a  peek into my own personal style diary and many exciting stuff!

Stay tuned.
