A Quick Post.

Hey there neighbors.

So I have penned down the Blogging 101 assignments which I have missed or have failed to render the drafts, and I have decided to club the assignments all together and experiment something new to the blog. I don’t know if that would count but I am super excited and it is a risk I’m willing to take. It would be fixed and up soon, since I have an important semester exams in three days it would be a onerous task for me to balance both books and blog. Yeah, I’m a mess like that.

I was thinking to add a page on Fashion and Fashion Reviews, as I hope and wish to work for a Fashion Magazine, obviously this is a great platform for me to practice and get better. So if you have any suggestions or ideas for me, they are welcomed. Your comments and reviews really help me to do my best and earn the job, otherwise I honestly never complete the things which I really want too. It is something which I’m really trying to work on.

Writing helps. Sharing motivates. And studying definitely makes me wanna sleep. But you gotta do what you gotta do like my best friend says.

I have to run to my study before I’m caught and my WiFi is confiscated.

Thanks again.

Liebster Nominated- #2

liebster

I woke up to the sound of WordPress notifier on my phone today and the first thing I read was a comment by the wonderful Jen from Under Open Skies nominating me for Liebster Award. Seriously, what a great start to the day!

Why, thank you Jen. Her blog is the perfect combination of Literature and Sustainability. I have never seen a blog so good and true to nature. Its a must-visit.

So, lets do this!

The Liebster Award Rules:

  • Acknowledge and link back to the person who nominated you
  • Answer the 11 questions asked by the person who nominated you
  • Share 11 random facts about yourself
  • Nominate 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers.
  • Give your nominees 11 questions to answer on their blog when they post about the Liebster Award.

Answers to Jens Questions:

What is the biggest personal change you have ever made?

Becoming less vulnerable and patient (I hate waiting). I wouldn’t say the biggest yet. Its getting better.

Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 29, and find line 4. What is the book and does it say?

It says, Nightwear- Nightwear, also called “sleepwear”, “sleeping suit”, “night clothes” or “night dress” . HAHAHAHA. Its funny in a weird way. The book is called “Fashion Merchandising”. I have exams in three days. LOL.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

Helloooo New York! Because I’m a Carrie Bradshaw fan plus there’s a different kind of thrill there. And oh! One of the Fashion Capitals 😮

If you could change one thing about the world, what would you do?

Eradicate poverty. No one deserves such kind of social biasness.

Is the glass half empty or half full?

Nice one. I would say half full. If I take this as a metaphor for life, yes its half full. Why look at the side which has nothing when you can still make the remaining one worth? (ugh, Did I get too mushy?)

When is the last time you ate a homegrown tomato?

Never 😦

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A Fashion Designer. Something which I am pursuing now. 🙂

What is your favorite time of the day?

At Dusk. I live by the sea and I love love love the shades of sunset.

What inspires you?

I really don’t know this (._. ). It would probably be the visions of how my life would be if I do achieve what I want.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

Seeing my baby brothers birth and I was the first one to hold him :’) . I was in Grade 1 and I had a parents-teacher meeting that day. Baby brother is a lucky charmer. Ha!

What three things in nature do you find most beautiful?

Sunsets.

Nights.

The magic in the Wind.

11 Random Facts:

  1. The meaning of my name “Alekha” is something which cannot be described in words. Others choose Aliyah.
  2. I love french fries! If french fries was a person, I’d marry him.
  3. I own 52 diaries from which 34 are yet empty because I am afraid. They are too pretty and smell too good to be spoiled.
  4. A bowl of mushroom soup and Harry Potter series are my medicines whenever I’m sick.
  5. I choose Street shopping than being a brand freak. Forever 21 sucks. seriously.
  6. I love going for  long walks.
  7. I am obsessed with writing letters to anyone, any place. I could write a letter to you too. I would love too!
  8. Moodswings and I are Best Friends. :/

  10. Once I saw the most hilarious dream of my life  (which I barely remember), I was laughing so hard that I woke up. No seriously ( ._.)
  11. I am lazy, too lazy to write the 11th one now.

A Citizen Of Republic India.

The simple and astonishing truth about India and Indian people is that when you go there, and deal with them, your heart always guides you more wisely than your head. There’s nowhere else in the world where that’s quite so true. – Gregory David Roberts.

Today.

Today India smells singular. You could smell it before seeing the sunrise and before the bird starts singing their sweet patriotic melody. It is the sweet, sweating smell of hope, which is the opposite of hate; and it’s the smell of pride and unconditional love, which is the opposite of greed. It is the smell of gods, demons, empires, and civilizations in resurrection and decay. It is the blue skinned smell of the sea, no matter where are you in the country, and the blood-metal smell of machines. It smells of the stir and sleep and lives of sixty million animals, more than half of them humans and rats. It smells of heartbreak , and the struggle to live, and of the crucial failures and loves that produce our courage.

It smells of ten thousand temples, shrines, churches and mosques, and of a hundred bazaars devoted exclusively to perfumes, spices, incense, and freshly cut flowers.

It is the worst good smell in the world!

It smells of people: Assamese, Jats, and Punjabis; people from Rajasthan, Bengal, and Tamil Nadu; from Pushkar, Cochin, and Konarak; warrior caste, Brahmin, and untouchable; Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Parsee, Jain, Animist; fair skin and dark, green eyes and golden brown and black; every different face and form of the extravagant variety, that incomparable beauty.

It is this smell. It is INDIA.

Today India celebrates its 66th Republic Day, and I am just going to smell this air of Indian history and culture and breathe humility and honor of being an Indian. A human.

Jai Hind.

Young Shields.

Come and take a look behind the curtain..

Peer under the surface to see things that are dark for certain

Beneath the coat of smiles and jokes

Is a dark abyss with the humanity being choked

Yes you tend to do things sometimes that seem like you are not correct in the mind.

It’s because you are so lost and confused, sanity is so hard to find

You really think at times that you are going crazy

And that you are losing your conscience, when tear jerker stories don’t even phase you

It’s crazy that at times you make yourself cry

Just so no one can see how numb you are inside

Everyone seems to have an answer to your problems

Like they’re some psychiatrist. But no one cares about them

Nobody knows the visions you’ve seen

The horrible terrible things that even you’ve dreamed

but you don’t say this to get pity or sympathy or a sadistic cool

just want them to know, you need somebody to see the true you

To see your struggle to keep this world upright

To see your constant battle against your demons at night

To witness the crushing agony of defeat

When theres no harmony and everything is offbeat

To realize that at times you cling to the best things in life

With a death-grip you fight for the things that make you smile

Anything…just to numb the pain for awhile

Anything..to be free from this lifestyle

Anything…to be nothing but versatile

and you just know you’re an addict, there’s no room for denial

That it wouldn’t be a part of it, if there were no trial

Things seem better as you get higher and higher

Sometimes the world seems so much farther beneath you

That it doesn’t look right it seems like a monotonous hue
& you are just there…

You do what you can, but can’t fight who you are.

You mess up your plans and fold your own hands

Somewhere there hoping them to understand.

You can hear yourself screaming internally

And think “why am I filled with such uncertainty?”

You still go on, though they think you’re wrong.

Their denial is just an understatement, you start to grow strong.

You learn to treat yourself right, even when you’re mistreated.

And you don’t let anyone bruise your self-esteem, even if under-estimated.

You manage to take control and don’t lend your emotions

You deal with your own obsession,

Drink, laugh, and move on- same old fashion.

You only make them see what you choose to show

Its not like you want them to come to you, you just lie low.

Among all the odds I’d like you to know…

Keeping your emotions there inside, all concealed

There’ll be that special one to whom you can reveal

And amaze them by showing how quickly you heal

Those moments will make you realize just how simply happy you feel,

You are not ordinary,

You sacrificed and fought in that cold-blooded battlefield

You are one of us.

You are a YOUNG SHIELD.

Philosophical State-Of-Mind.

Are we collecting and analyzing with a purpose? Do we have the guts to do a reality check and see if what we have collected is “meaningful” or “worth”?  It can be anything. Memories, reality, dreams, wishes, someone special or a lucky bracelet, anything which makes you question it’s worth. How often have you had those nights where you doubted yourself and your abilities? I know I have.

Have you ever had that feeling when you are stuck somewhere between who you are, who you could be and who you want to be?

“What it is” is what is now! It is a period you live in with your existing state of affairs. It is this period which creates a picture in your head of how it is supposed to be or “What it should be”, because if this period had been better, you wouldn’t have thought of what should you do to make it the best. Focusing on the situation where you are stuck in between what it is and what it should be, you’ll learn that you cannot be loved by all. You can be the finest person in the world- understanding, caring, loving. But there will be people who’ll go against you. You have to understand that if you are the finest apple and someone you love and value the most doesn’t like apples, you have the choice of becoming an orange. If you chose to become an orange, you will be a second rated orange, but you can always be a finest apple because, that who you are and what you are known for. You’ll realize that if you choose to be an orange, there will be people who don’t like oranges too. This is a grim scenario of the ‘between’ situation, where a person deals with heart breaks, sabotage their own thoughts and emotions. Furthermore, you can spend your life trying to become the best orange which is impossible because you can shape your personality and not your nature, or you can seek again to be the finest apple.

The road between where you are and where you should be is just another lane in your life which will lead you to your destination. It is not permanent; it is just a phase, where you learn to handle the odds of any situation, struggle, bluff and risks. After a while you learn a subtle difference between holding a hand and getting chained with a soul, and you learn that love doesn’t mean learning from each other every time, and company doesn’t mean refuge, and you begin to learn that kisses aren’t any love contracts or a brand mark, and presents aren’t lifetime promises, and you being to accept your defeats and learn to confront them with your head held high, with the grace of an adult and not a grief of a child, you learn to build your own roads based on today because tomorrow doesn’t allow any guarantee. After a while you learn that too much sunshine can burn you. So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul and set your own example to the human race, instead of waiting for someone to get you flowers.

Note-to-self: Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity.
